First results Jordan elections announced after unexpected voter turnout

On 15 August, Jordanians for the first time elected mayors, members of municipal councils as well as the governorate councils, under a new Decentralization Law. Elected members of the governorate councils will replace assigned consultative councils with local executive councils, in order to enhance public participation and increase the influence of citizens in decision making processes, such as developmental planning and allocation of funds.

Jongerentraining in Jordanië

Van 7-9 april organiseerden wij in samenwerking met onze lokale partner JCDC een training voor jongeren in Jordanië. Er vinden veel ontwikkelingen plaats in Jordanië. Zo gaan er parlementsverkiezingen plaatsvinden (exacte datum nog onbekend). Daarnaast is onlangs de eerste sociaaldemocratische partij – Jordanian Social Democratic Party (JSDP) – officieel geregistreerd. Gezien al deze ontwikkelingen vroeg de partner om een campagnetraining voor jongeren en vrouwen die of deel gaan nemen aan de verkiezingen namens de JSDP, of actief campagne gaan voeren.

Future Leaders Training 2015 held in Amman

Between the 8th and 11th of October the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity organized the first training weekend in the framework of the Future Leaders project. The training was attended by young representatives of social democratic and progressive political parties from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia. It took place in Amman (Jordan) and focused on ideology, communication and campaigning. The Future Leaders training course is supported by the UK Labour Party through the Westminster Foundation. Our partner in Jordan, the Al Sindyan Institute provided great assistance in making the training possible, while the UK Labour Party and the Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS) provided each one trainer to conduct the training.

Future Leaders Training in Jordan

Between the 27th and 30th of November the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity organized a training for representatives of social democratic parties from Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia. The training took place in Amman and focused on developing and communicating a message that is based on concrete policy issues in the region that are of importance for social democrats. The Future Leaders training course is supported by the UK Labour Party through the Westminster Foundation. Our partner in Jordan, Jordanian Commission for Democratic Culture (JCDC), provided great assistance in making the training possible, while Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS) and the Labour Party provided two trainers each to conduct the training.

Third Future Leaders seminar held in Morocco

From 29 November to 1 December the European Forum, in cooperation with the Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS), the UK Labour Party and the Unified Socialist Party in Morocco organized the third and final seminar of the Future Leaders Training. The young and promising future politicians came from social democratic and left progressive parties from Morocco, the Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan.

Second Future Leaders Training held in Tunisia

From 6 to 8 September the European Forum, in cooperation with the Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS), the UK Labour Party and the Ettakatol party organized the second seminar of the Future Leaders Training. The young and promising future politicians came from social democratic and left progressive parties from Morocco, the Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan.

First Future Leaders Training held in the MENA region

Between June 7th and June 9th the European Forum, in cooperation with the Alfred Mozer Stichting, the UK Labour Party and the Al-Sindyan Institute organized for the first time a Future Leaders Training for 24 young and promising participants from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in Amman, Jordan. The participants came from social democratic and left progressive parties from Morocco, the Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan.
