In September 2015 leaders from all around the world gathered to launch the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs focus on a broad agenda and ‘Ready for Change?’ emphasises on the importance of implementing this agenda. Implementation requires a collective effort by governments, research institutions, the private sector and civil society organizations. Representatives of all these stakeholders express their opinions in the dialogue that we aspire to facilitate at the international conference.
We are glad to announce that Minister Lilianne Ploumen for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation officially confirmed her attendance at the conference. After the publication ‘Ready for Change? Global Goals at home and abroad' is officially handed over to the Minister, she will give a keynote speech on the Sustainable Development Goals and the implementation in the Netherlands and the European Union.
After that the former Beyond 2015 Regional Coordinator for Africa and civil society leader, Stephen Chacha from Tanzania speaks about the role of the Global South in the implementation of the SDGs. An expert panel closes the morning plenary with a lively discussion, with. Hugo von Meijenfeldt from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ebba Dohlman from the OECD, Laura Sullivan from Concord, Carsten Sørensen from the European Commission and Stephen Chacha.
In the afternoon we will inspire the debate about achieving specific SDGs by several interactive workshops. You will find the descriptions of the workshops here. You can register yourself on the day of the conference for two workshops (round one and round two). The day concludes with a debate between Dutch and European parliamentarians.
We look forward to hear your thoughts on the SDGs and the best way to implement them. Get involved in the dialogue and show that you are Ready for Change! Register for the conference (no admission fee) via Eventbrite, follow us via Facebook and read more about our mission on the Ready for Change page.
